Bend the remaining stakes over, and tuck them behind the first few rows to hold the rim row in place

Cut a piece of 5/8 flat oval to fit around the outside of the basket. It should overlap at least 2.5 inches. Cut another piece to go around the inside of the basket.
Using a knife or planing tool, scarf the ends so they fit together smoothly and are about the same thickness together as one piece of flat oval reed |

Lash rim using a piece of 1/4 inch flat oval reed can wrap the basket rim three times in length, and that has been soaked at least 5 minutes in water Add a piece of seagrass to 'fill' the space between the rims.
