Cut to the edge of the rim row, each stake that is BEHIND the rim row, as shown

Cut the remaining stakes that are in front of the rim row on an angle, and evenly all the way around

They should be about 2 inches above the rim row

Bend the remaining stakes over, and tuck them behind the first few rows to hold the rim row in place

Cut a piece of 5/8 flat oval to fit around the outside of the basket. It should overlap at least 2.5 inches. Cut another piece to go around the inside of the basket.

Using a knife or planing tool, scarf the ends so they fit together smoothly and are about the same thickness together as one piece of flat oval reed

Soak flat oval rim pieces and attach rim pieces using clothespins or clips to keep them in place

Lash rim using a piece of 1/4 inch flat oval reed can wrap the basket rim three times in length, and that has been soaked at least 5 minutes in water

Add a piece of seagrass to 'fill' the space between the rims.

Lash all the way around the baskets, crossing with 'X's at the handles
